Youtube slow to load issue on Nexus 7

I try watching a youtube video on my Nexus 7 and it is buffering slowly on wifi network. When I tap the Play button in Youtube app, it takes about 3 to 5 minutes to load or even  times out and won't load. Sometimes it start playing and then  freeze in the middle of the video. It's really frusterating. But if I switch to my Macbook, it streams the same video super fast.

How to fix Youtube slow issues on Nexus 7
* YouTube is an highly intensive data usage app. Make your your tablet has a strong WiFi network connection.
* Go to Settings 》 Applications, scroll to YouTube, tap it and then "CLear data" and "Clear cache".
* Try other trick to fix. Turning airplane mode on and off refreshes your tablet address information.

  4. Same issue here. I have a Kindle fire that streams YouTube fine, same WiFi, same distance from router. Is there a way to force the N7 to stream at lower resolution in you tube app?

  5. It has to do with the size of the files. I'm not sure why but I noticed a relatively short video that lasted just a few minutes with buffer problems in HD on my nexus 7 was around 400mb. In contract Netflix can stream a two hour movie in HD quality to the device that is about 200 mb in size. I'm not sure why they can't compress the HD data so that it can stream properly. Even if you have a 10mb / sec wifi you're going to have problems streaming in real time multiple GB's of data.

  8. I also have this issue... I have just been so fed up with it I started googling... How can a Google app not work correctly on a google product is my big question.

I have uninstalled updates, cleared cache, and it takes me 15 minutes to watch a 3 minute video. Normally I just stop watching youtube and do something else. This is bad, thinking about returning this device, this issue and the screen flicker. BTW i am a big google supporter and fan, but this is bad.

  10. Yup. I have a 30 MB connection adsl, and can play HD video from youtube on everything in my house (including my blackberry playbook) but can't do it on my nexus without it pausing every 10 or 15 seconds.

  18. Same here. I see that the first post was in July. It's now December and the problem still exists. I've had this tablet for about 4 days, and it has been doing this since I took it out of the box. Buy a Nexus they said. It's a great value they said...

  20. I have the same issue. I can't stream any content from YouTube without massive buffering. It seems to work fine everywhere else though.

  21. Same issue here. Strange how all other comparable devices seem to have no issues. You'd think that a gadget like this would run YouTube great given how it is marketed. Very disappointing.

  23. I have the same issue here. Chrome browser also suffers with slow load speed when streaming. I rooted my nexus 7 and installed stock browser (the one before chrome) and when i browse and stream with this browser everything works just fine, no slow loading problem. This might be a solution for the rooted nexus owners...

  25. Have this is problem as well, so regret buying this tablet now, will never buy a Google or Asus product again, YouTube should be a priority on any mobile device, how could they let this go.
