Chrome not redirect Wifi Authentication on Nexus 7

To connect WiFi at my school, it redirects the browser to a log in page to fully access the WiFi network. But when I enter a website like yahoo in Chrome app on my Nexus 7, Chrome doesn't have pop-up prompts and won't redirect for Wifi Authentication. It displays the error message "Error 105 (net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED): Unable to resole the server's DNS address."

On my computer and iPad 2, all browsers including chrome work fine. I have tried forgetting/disconnecting the network and manually reconnect, but not working. I think I need to try other browser, like Firefox or Opera app.

  1. I'm having the same problem without the error message. A redirect page is meant to show but it doesn't. In the settings I've unchecked 'block popups'. I've 'forgotten' the connection several times.

Also, I've tried connecting to a secured connection without the redirect and although it was working yesterday today it is not. So the problem is persisting after the connection has been changed.

Funny thing is that it seems as if the page is being read but not displayed as the tab shows the icon and title for the page.

  2. I'm having the same problem. My school connection also redirects me. I tried connecting yesterday afternoon and since then have not been able to connect at all.

I've unchecked the 'block popups' just in case even though its a redirect. I've cleared the cache. I've 'forgotten' the connection and reconnected.

However, it appears as if the page is being read but not fully loaded as the tab shows the icon and title of whatever page I'm trying to access but not the page contents.

    I'll try Firefox shortly.

  3. So, installed Opera Mobile (Firefox not available for Nexus7 yet) and Opera worked perfectly. Thank you Opera. Strange enough, when I opened Opera on the school connection there was no redirect - it was as if the login information was still there (I had previously done a complete browser clear in Chrome). After connecting to another connection and then reconnecting back to the school connection I was redirected as expected.

Would like to have Chrome fixed but will survive with Opera. In fact I already use Opera on my phone and love it.

  4. You have to turn off blocked popups in the Chrome settings.
